Exploring Love

Its 11 pm in the night, everyone in my home is asleep and as I write these lines, I ponder over a different question that is not related to love. Something thought provoking. Why do we do things? Why do we over and again come and login to Orkut? Why do we create threads? Why do I create polls? All of a sudden, I don’t have justification to my actions. It’s kind of sinking to know you make efforts for things that don’t have any outcome. Someone who walked 10 miles only to reach nowhere, I’m under possession of similar feel. Whatever, I’ve learned, such feelings are momentary and fade as time passes. Ok! Your patience is commendable as you read till here without entertaining any second thoughts to read further. The feeling of sinking, void etc.. were evolutionary products of a poll where I asked Genians ‘What is Love?’ It happens to be genesis for this post. No more nonsense, please read on.

So what is love? A generic term? Something essential for living? Wastage of time? Wastage of money? Time pass? Sex/lust/unholy stuff that we must keep off, simply attraction or something else. These were the options, accompanied by a not so related ‘Kill the poll creator’ option. Unfortunately or fortunately, I was the one who created the poll, hence was ready to sacrifice life. Dumb you! Virtually (One of my professors in engineering pronounced it as Vertually… vir-tually, which sounds funny. Trust me). Voting hasn’t stopped, but most of the active members out there have exercised their franchise to vote.

Here is a snapshot of response.

25% of the respondents feel love is something extremely essential for living. While 21% want the poll creator (I) to be killed. That’s serious lack of concentration. Poll creator getting killed 7 times. Man! Where is the world leading to? 9% of the sect says its wastage of time, money, sex/lust/unholy, time pass or something else that’s not offered to vote on. A mere 6% say its attraction. WHF? Why do all the morons in love banter ‘I’m attracted to him/her’ all the time? If its not attraction then what is it. The respondents fall in 18-30 years category.

Aditya can’t hold his joy that he took part in a poll and posts a smiley (big smile) as a comment. I’ve heard a phrase; ‘Silence can be virtue, sometimes’ but this ain’t that sometime. B.T.W Aditya clicked everything the poll had to offer. Is he a confused kid?

Diimaan who now sports a weird DP, which I believe is a still form some Hollywood flick says “kill him kill himm…” It seems his adventure with typos shall never end. He wants to kill the poll creator. He used a confused smiley to begin and funny smiley to end his comment. He too seems to be confused.

Aravind who I fondly address as Tiger thinks “Love-Each and every body Has their own Statement......That depends upon their heart and Mind set....Each and every stage of Life.....You Have to Love to live...That's it....”

Jhumki, who is one amid junta that wants poll creator to be killed, reacts to Aravind and says “ARA!!! This is the most difficult question in the entire f***in universe!!” Is it so? Is love so incomprehensible and beyond human limits to answer?

However, if you were to take my opinion, love isn’t that difficult to make-sense-of. To put in the words of Lisa Hoffman "Love is like pi - natural, irrational, and very important." I guess most of the respondents had their loves picture somewhere in back of their mind as they responded, and responded in context of male-female love. There are few others too, which we incessantly ignore like; love for country, love for parents, love for friends. And yes, I do think attraction plays a larger than presumed role in love. Love also makes one tranquility deprived. Now I feel like a love-guru and a feeling of self moronification has sunk in. Its sort of natural alarm that starts tickling when I go beyond my civilized limits. All those greeting cards and novelty companies watch out. Eehhhhh…..

Adios!
